Dr. Peter Hansen (Universidade de Florida) sobre as

Ovarian Cyst, Dairy cows, Stress

Image
Ovarian Cyst Ovarian cyst is an abnormal follicular structure that forms due to ovulation failure, reaching larger diameter than ovarian follicle and persists for ≥10 days. This structure may regress spontaneously, stay permanently or be luteinized (Ball & Peter, 2004; Noakes et al., 2018), (Figure. 1). Ovarian cyst is more common in dairy than beef cows, especially in high milk production cows. It often occurs during the postpartum period (Hafez & Hafez, 2000; Noakes et al., 2018, Peter et al., 2009). Peter et al. (2018) consider the ovarian cyst as a development of anestrous case of persistence structures of dominant follicles, but Noakes et al. (2018) do not consider the importance of CL absence in this case. The failure in luteinizing hormone (LH) releasing mechanism is the most evident cause of ovarian cyst which is not related to deficiency in Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) but it is related to low sensitivity of hypothalamic-pituitary axis to elevated secretion of

Bovine oocytes, Lipids, Reactive oxygen species, Antioxidants

Effects of EPA on bovine oocytes matured in vitro with antioxidants: Impact on the lipid content of oocytes and early embryo development In this work ( Nikoloff et al., 2020), the effect of an unsaturated fatty acid (EPA) on lipids accumulation and distribution, cumulus  cumulus cells expansion, nuclear maturation, and ROS production in bovine  cumulus -oocyte complexes (COCs) was studies, as well as enhancing the oocyte competence by antioxidants; the most amazing section in this article is the methods, Nikoloff, N., Campagna, A., Luchetti, C., Carranza-Martín, A. C., Pascua, A. M., Anchordoquy, J. M., ... & Furnus, C. C. (2020). Heat stress, Bovine granulosa cells, Reactive oxygen species

Oxidative and endoplasmic reticulum stress defense mechanisms of bovine granulosa cells exposed to heat stress   In this work (Alemu et al., 2018), the heat stress (HS)-Exposure time effect on  bovine granulosa cells were studied. T he reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and  BAX , CAT ,  PRDX1   genes expressions were changed according to exposure time (24 or 48 h); this work showed the amazing idea of HS-Exposure time effect on the cells, Alemu, T. W., Pandey, H. O., Wondim, D. S., Gebremedhn, S., Neuhof, C., Tholen, E., ... & Tesfaye, D. (2018). Heat Stress, Endometritis, Dairy cattle

Alteration of chemokine production in bovine endometrial epithelial and stromal cells under heat stress conditions In this work (Sakai et al., 2020), studied the effect  of heat stress (HS) on  chemokine production in endometrial epithelial and stromal cells, the effect of HS on these cell types is interesting to study; the experimental design of this work is an example to follow,   Sakai, S., Hatabu, T., Yamamoto, Y., & Kimura, K. (2020). Alteration of chemokine production in bovine endometrial epithelial and stromal cells under heat stress conditions.  Physiological Reports ,  8 (22), e14640.    Link: 10.14814/phy2.14640   Please, read and leave your comment, Best Regards,

Granulosa cells, FSH, Autophagy

High doses of FSH induce autophagy in bovine ovarian granulosa cells     In this wrok ( Xiaorong et al., 2020)  the effect of different follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) doses on in vitro granulosa cells (GCs) and the pathways that mediate the FSH effect were studies; one of the creative ideas that I have found in this work is the detection of Autophagic vesicle, the autophagy ( a programmed cell death) is an interesting topic to study.   Xiaorong, T., Ma, L., Guo, S., Liang, M., & Jiang, Z. (2020). High doses of FSH induce autophagy in bovine ovarian granulosa cells via the AKT/mTOR pathway.  Reproduction in Domestic Animals .    Link: https://doi.org/10.1111/rda.13869    Please, read it and leave your comment, Best Regards,

Bovine oocytes, in vitro maturation, chromosomes

Analysis of bovine blastocysts indicates ovarian stimulation does not induce chromosome errors, nor discordance between inner-cell mass and trophectoderm lineages   This work (Tuttt et al., 2020) proved the role of in vitro maturation (IVM) in the chromosomal abnormalities in produced blastocysts. It is a interesting work.  Tutt, D. A. R., Silvestri, G., Serrano-Albal, M., Simmons, R. J., Kwong, W. Y., Guven-Ates, G., ... & Griffin, D. K. (2020).
